Safe Touch Training
Dear Parents,
Keeping children safe from those who would harm them requires constant vigilance and care. At Christian Academy, we believe it is important that children know that their bodies were created by God, understand that they have the right to keep their bodies safe, and to know what to do if they encounter an inappropriate situation.
Each child in grades K-5 will receive a training called SAFE TOUCH. This training will be presented to same-gender groups. Session one focuses on body rules (your body belongs to you) and on different types of touch (good, hurtful, confusing, and inappropriate). Session two focuses on feelings (identifying the feeling that something is wrong), what to do with secrets (always tell someone), and on telling a trusted adult if something is/seems inappropriate.
The powerpoints for each training are attached in a separate post.
I encourage you to talk to your children often about their body rights, their feelings, and the fact that they can, and should, talk to you about ANYTHING that makes them nervous, uncomfortable, or awkward.
